About the Community Anchors' Philosophy

We believe that local businesses can drive economic growth in a community. This is particularly important when large businesses leave (or fail); local workers are often left with skill and work ethic but with limited opportunity.

We believe that with right support, local businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs can leverage local resources to fill the economic gap that was formerly filled by larger businesses. As these smaller businesses grow, they create jobs and disposable income for people in the community. This leads to a greater demand for products and services, which in turn leads to more opportunities and growth in the community.

We believe that the people who live in a community have a better understanding of the products and services are needed in that community. This perspective, when supported by a network of experienced business professionals is a formula for success.

Research shows that there are two main barriers to individuals, particularly in underserved communities, when starting their own businesses. First, many potential entrepreneurs feel a college degree is a mandatory prerequisite. Community Anchors feels that a college degree is neither required, nor a guarantee of success. Being an innovative, motivated person transcends educational qualifications. Second, small business entrepreneurs are often overwhelmed by the costs of starting a new business, and often shy away from great opportunities because they fear the capital requirements. Many of these missed opportunities could have been acted upon if only the individual had known that financing IS available if you know how to find it.

Community Anchors believes that there are talented underserved small business owners and entrepreneurs that have profitable ideas that can revive their communities. Through low-cost and pro bono, high-involvement business consulting services, Community Anchors will advise and teach the fundamentals of running a successful business. The Community Anchors Small Business Advantage engagement model is a revolutionary approach which focuses on spending more time (as compared to other small business support organizations) with each client to understand their unique goals for their unique business.
